You can find almost anything you are looking for in this surprisingly extraordinary city if you look hard enough. You can search and find hip hop funk concerts in a city basement, social-light parties in the hottest night clubs, burlesque shows, slow jazz nights in a corner bar, Latino dance nights, gothic and metal club events to even hipster clubs down the street. There is everything and anything you could possibly hope for, but if you don´t know how to find what you are looking for; Gothenburg can be a complicated and tiresome maze or obstacle course that can be hard to navigate through. Which is why I have decided to write about the best venues, prices, and age groups that people frequent quite often in Gothenburg!
TRANQUILO is an exciting and fun venue that provides alot of Brazilian, Peru, Argentina, and mexican culture. The dancing / music is absolutely wild and full of spirit. All through the night the venue provides the dancers with music of Salsa, Bachata, Cha Cha, Merengue, Kizomba and Samba. Located at Kungstorget 14 411 10 Göteborg, Sweden. Admission 60-80 SEK (Age: 20 years).
STICKY FINGERS is usually a classic 18 year old hang out place but great for Internationals people. A very rock and Brittish atmosphere with a very spacious venue. The club has Club Doo Wacko and many other events during the week and weekend. The club has indie pop rock, punk both live and from the dj booth. Located at Kaserntorget 7 411 18 Göteborg, Sweden. Admission: 40-100 SEK (Age: 18 years)
CLUB CALOR is also an awesome hang out venue. I can guarantee there will be not a person able to sit still at this fun and hopping place. The club contains alot of Afro/ Caribbean and Latin rhythms. You might even imagine that you have relocated to an exotic country in the far east. Located at Viktoriagatan 3 411 25 Göteborg, Sweden. Admission: 50 SEK-100 SEK (Age: 23 years).
GLOW NIGHT CLUB is in the middle of the infamous street called The Avenue, Glow targets a slightly older audience and has a more posh and commercial attitude and atmosphere. The music is mainly commercial and house with a slightly aristocratic feel. Kungsportsavenyn 8 411 36 Göteborg, Sweden Admission: 120 SEK (Age: 22 years)
NEFERTITI provides the role of being the venue of the jazz and soul music scene. They bring in bands and musicians from all over the world like Macedonia, Albania, Greek, Norway, Denmark and Africa. The architecture is old brick and feels like a jugle with a maze of people dancing in a crowded dim lit area. Located at Hivitfeldtsplatsen 6 411 20 Göteborg, Sweden Admission: 100 SEK ( Age: 20 years)
Last but not least, TRÅDGÅRN Night Club is like a massive jungle. People from all over the city choose to spend their weekend nights here. Swedes coming from Alingsås, Kungalv and Tjörn all come to this wonderful wide open venue build with a beautiful outside terrasse and perfect for the swedish long summer nights. People here dance the night away and walk away with totally epic memories of the nights events. Located at Nya allén 11 411 38 Göteborg, Sweden. Admission: 100 SEK (Age: 18 years)
With all that being said, there are a bunch of fun venues to choose from that all expats love to go too! Sometimes if you look hard enough you will find what you are looking for – the perfect hang out spot for you and your friends. Whether it’s clubbing, grabbing a beer and watching a football game, or going out dancing. There are always options – and this city is full of them! Written by Claire Hultin
